Accreditation
We are proud that the School was reaccredited
in November 2001 by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and the Council of
International Schools (CIS).
Both independent associations support schools in continuous improvement
through a rigorous process of self and peer evaluation.
This year, we will begin our 18 month process
of rigorous self-evaluation in order to be reaccredited by these
organisations.
Accreditation is an ongoing process and ISL is
required to continually meet the highest standards in staffing, academic
programmes, and campus facilities. In November 2006, our school welcomed
representatives from CIS and NEASC for the Five Year Visit. As with any such
visit, they made recommendations, all of which were in line with our
plans for ongoing development. Pleasingly, they also recognized the progress
we had made since 2001 and the high standards throughout the school. Here are
some extracts of the 2006 Accreditation Five Year Report:
“ISL generates a very positive atmosphere which is best exemplified by
the articulate and enthusiastic young people who are its students. They are a
credit to the school and to their parents and themselves, and to the staff,
both teaching and support, which have created an atmosphere which combines hard
work and enjoyment produces an integrated environment which is the envy of
many.”
“The comments of students about the respect for different cultures,
the inclusive nature of the student body, and the ease of settling in when
new to the school all speak to the culture of respect that is deliberately
fostered at ISL.”
“The wealth of opportunities afforded to all, the encouragement to do
well, and the commitment to service are indicators of a school culture that
establishes high academic and social expectations for all students.”
“Sporting challenges, extra-curricular opportunities and excellent
facilities add to the rich educational experiences available to students at
ISL and help to define ISL as an exceptional school.”
“Whilst keeping a sense of proportion and perspective, ISL promotes
new ideas and is an invigorating place in which to be a student, a parent or
a teacher.”
