Our Community
The International School of Lausanne is
known for its stimulating, caring and positive environment, which has helped
the ISL community become a remarkably close-knit one.
The activities proposed throughout the school
year bring teachers, parents and students together and demonstrate a high
level of commitment and communication amongst all those associated with the
school.
Faculty and Staff
More than 90 teachers, coming from all
around the world, share their broad international teaching experience and
extracurricular skills with the ISL community.
Student Life
One important measure of a successful
school is a motivated student body. For this reason, ISL encourages students
to take an active interest in their school and its relations with the outside
world. An active Student Council meets weekly to discuss issues of concern
raised by the student body, and to organize social and charity events.
Community Life
Around 50 countries represent
our three hundred families during the 2009-2010 school year.

Information to Parents
ISL feels it is very important that
parents take an active interest in the school of their children. To allow
families from such diverse cultural backgrounds to feel a part of ISL, here
are the different ways of keeping parents in touch with the School activities:
|
Welcome and Curriculum Information
evenings
A Welcome Evening for parents is held in the
last week of August as well as a Curriculum Information evening later in
the Autumn Term. At each, parents will have an opportunity to visit the School
and meet the teachers.
News
A Newsletter from the School and a
complementary Community News from our active PTA inform the parents
about all various school activities. These are posted on the website each
week.
Website
We provide a lot of information on the website.
However, our Parent Handbook and our various Programme of Studies’ guides
give greater detail.
Progress reports
First Semester and Second Semester progress
reports, with written comments on each subject area, are sent home to the
parents mid year and end of year. Secondary School students also receive
interim reports twice a year.
Conferences
The Primary School Parent/Teacher
conferences are held during the Autumn Term and Student led
conferences in the Spring Term. In the Secondary School Learning
Reviews are scheduled in the Autumn and the Spring Terms. When
necessary, parents and/or teachers may make appointments to discuss student
progress at other convenient times.
Parent Teacher Association
Our Parent Teacher Association
(PTA) is a very active and dynamic part of school life at ISL. The main
goals of this association of parents are welcoming new families, enhancing
lines of communication within the School community and coordinating social
and cultural events.
