Yoga Y9-Y13
Here is a great opportunity to do something different. Why not try out the After-School Yoga Programme run by Yoga teacher Susan Rodd. The programme is ideal for both boys and girls who wish to practise Yoga positions, correct breathing, relaxation and meditation techniques. Students will learn how to hold challenging poses such as Warrior and Triangle whilst using the breath to keep them steady and focused. This builds physical strength and flexibility as well as improving concentration and self-confidence. At the end of each session 10 minutes of relaxation and meditation techniques are taught such as candle gazing or counting the breath. The yoga session is designed so that each week a master pose is learnt and this in turn builds on the previous one taught so that students can progress safely through the programme. By the end of the term the group will have completed 10 classical yoga positions and will have learnt how to move in and out of the poses and onto the next one controlling the breath and avoiding injury. Yoga is taught by Hatha Yoga Teacher Susan Rodd who is a UK Certified Yoga teacher and holds teaching diplomas from the British Wheel of Yoga, the governing body of Yoga for the UK and recognized by the Union Europeen de Yoga. Susan, who is also a mother to two teenage boys, is an experienced Hatha Yoga teacher and teaches at other International Schools in Switzerland.

Parental Guidelines
Please note that Secondary School students are free to go home when their activity is finished. If an activity is cancelled, we will make an announcement before the end of the school day. It is the responsibility of students concerned to contact their parents. If they do not have a mobile phone they can call home from reception. Students will only be able to use the ISL Transportation Service if they are registered for that day.
We encourage students to attend their chosen activities on a regular basis. If they are unable to attend an activity, they should contact the activity leader.
If your child would like to withdraw from an activity please ask them to let the activity leader know either in person or by email and send a short email to the ASA coordinator.
Please note that reception closes at 17.30 daily; at this time the main entrance will also be locked.
Activities will only run during normal school days, if there is no school, eg Learning Review, there will be no ASA's.
Student Guidelines
In the Secondary School you are now responsible for signing up for and attending After School Activities. Please bear in mind the following points:
- You have chosen to participate in an activity, if for some reason you are unable to attend please let the Activity Leader know either in person or by email.
- You should be ready to start the activity on time.
- Don’t forget to thank your leader at the end of the activity and be respectful.
- If you want to withdraw from an activity, for whatever reason, please tell both the Activity Leader and After-School Activities coordinator either in person or by email.
ASA Behaviour Policy
After-school activities (ASA) are all inclusive activities and offer an opportunity for all students in Y1-Y13 to opt to take part in.
Expected behaviour:
- Students should listen to ASA leaders when they are giving instructions and respond respectfully and positively to guidelines that may be given according to each environment.
- Safety rules will be explained and must be adhered to at all times.
- Students should work cooperatively and respectfully with their peers so that each individual can pursue their work independently without being disrupted or distracted by others.
- Students should remain on task and make the most of their opportunity to learn and enjoy their time in the activity.
Students not registered for an activity will not be allowed to attend any clubs.
Activities will only run during normal school days, if there is no school, eg Learning Review, there will be no ASA's.
