Social Skills - Reception 3
In the Early Childhood Centre, children learn about themselves as developing individuals and as members of families and of their communities, building on their own cultural experience. Staff use materials, equipment and displays that reflect the community the children come from and the wider world. They include the local community and environment as a source of learning.
They learn the basic rules and skills for keeping themselves healthy and safe and for behaving well. They have opportunities to show that they can take some responsibility for themselves and their environment.
The students are encouraged to:
- be aware of their surroundings and to be tolerant of each other’s feelings, ideas and beliefs
- develop themselves individually as well as belonging to a group other than their family group
- use appropriate behaviour in the different social activities they are involved in.
