Introduction
The Primary School Section, Years 1-6, (Grades K-5) is
housed in the east wing of the building. Children are taught in mixed ability
groups for all subjects, except for French from Year 3.
Each child has a class teacher who is responsible for the
well-being of the pupils in his or her charge.
The curriculum is based on the International
Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP) and designed with the diversity
of our community in mind. We aim to bring out the best in our students so
that they will be successful, both here in Lausanne and in other schools
throughout the world.
The following subjects are taught by class teachers :
Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Information Technology
and Art.
French, Music, Physical Education and Library are taught
by specialist staff.
English as an Additional Language classes are organised
for those children who need English language acquisition skills, and a
specialist teachers is available for students with specific learning needs.
The pastoral care given by the classroom teachers is an
essential component of the Primary School programme. Parents are kept
informed of their children's progress and are invited to collaborate closely
with their children's classroom teacher.
