International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme at ISL

The International School of Lausanne has offered the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) since September 2000. It is the unique course of study for all students in Year 12 and Year 13 with all students undertaking the full diploma in all but the most exceptional circumstances.

Our School is proud of its IBDP results, but we also recognise that the number of Diploma points is one of numerous measure of the success of the programme. To see our IBDP results, click here.

ISL’s mission and aims reflect the IB Learner Profile and every attempt are made to ensure students that the principles of the programmes are put into practice. This includes the essentials aspects of ‘education for intercultural understanding and international-mindedness’ and ‘learning how to learn’. The IBDP is a ‘programme’, and not six individual subjects. Our IBDP teachers recognise this and understand the pivotal role the hexagon core as the vehicle by which links between subjects are made.

Subjects Offered at ISL

The IBDP is designed to offer students both breadth and depth. This inevitably means that students are very busy. The exact details of what is offered at ISL are available from the links at the side of this page. Not all subjects are offered and not all combinations are possible but an effort is made to make choice as broad as possible whilst maintaining realistic class size.

In order to achieve the IB Diploma students must fulfil a number of criteria. The main criterion, and general rule, is for students to obtain 24-points overall from six subjects, three at Higher Level and three at Standard Level, including up to three bonus points.
