We are inviting girls aged 12-15 from across Suisse Romande to join us. The event is free and girls will be provided with meals (Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast and lunch) and snacks, as well as a GirlsCoding T-Shirt. They will need to bring a wifi capable laptop.
The event will introduce concepts of computational thinking and programming with Python with a number of breakout electives being planned for the Saturday. Additionally there will be a number of presentations from women in the field discussing their perspective on the challenges and opportunities for young women interested in Computer Science.
Signups are now open, and we'd encourage dissemination of this information quickly so any interested girls can register as places are limited.
A couple of notes:
- While GirlsCoding.org typically run events delivered in French to suit the local market, this particular weekend will be delivered in English.
- Your Computer Science teacher is also more than welcome to attend/visit the event.
GirlsCoding was created at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, in Switzerland, by a group of graduate students at the Audiovisual Communications Lab. As more people joined, we became a group of PhD students, engineers, and teachers, all spread over several countries. Our goal is to motivate kids -- and especially girls -- to learn about computer science by sparking their curiosity and engaging their creativity through a series of hands-on workshops.
