The author of this blog post is Artemis F. Artemis graduated from ISL in 2020 and is currently doing an internship in the Marketing department.

Graduation took place this Saturday 5th of June. In accordance with COVID-19 regulations, the ceremony had to take place over three different duplicated sessions throughout the day in order to reduce the number of students in the auditorium present at one time. Even with these restrictions, we believe the graduates were still sent off in style. We were delighted that we were able to welcome the graduate’s families (2 guests per graduate were allowed), and the ceremony was live streamed to ensure all family and community members could join the celebration virtually.

Excerpt of the graduation ceremony

Each session started with a speech from the Director of ISL, followed by Silvan Hoevenaars, the Chair of the ISL Board, followed by the heads of Secondary and High School. Then, each student was presented with their diploma after listening to their personal speech, written specially for the occasion.

Afterwards, a team of three students and a teacher performed Midnight Memories by One Direction, with Sharmila Ghanekar (voice), Frankie Odling-Smee (guitar and voice), Irene Kholeva (drums and voice), as well as DP Coordinator Michael Humphrey (bass). Following this, the public was presented with the well-awaited leavers video, directed by Roger Nobs and starring the ISL staff. The song choice this year was an adaptation of the famous Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley!

Last but not least, the student representatives made an inspiring speech, thanking the staff and students and wishing them the best of luck for the future.

We once again offer our heartfelt congratulations to the class of 2021! We are delighted to have such wonderful new alumni.
