If you come into the reception, you will notice a particularly wonderful painting of two children. It is part of a revolving ‘showcase’ of student work, and though it is a super piece of work in itself, its presence in the reception area hopefully underlines the importance of the arts as a vital part of a well-rounded school curriculum.

Whether through painting, music, drama, or dance, artistic activities encourage self-expression and creativity. At the same time they also help students develop the confidence and critical thinking skills that support learning across all subjects. Unfortunately sometimes discussion about education reduces to a focus on exams and measurable results. Pieces of art like the one in Reception remind us that learning is fundamentally about curiosity and personal growth, and about preparing students to be thoughtful, creative, and confident contributors to society.
