Dance Instructor

The International School of Lausanne (ISL) is a leading not-for-profit, International Baccalaureate (IB) World School set in the French speaking part of Switzerland. For our After-School Activities Programme, we are seeking a dynamic and qualified 

Dance Instructor

Temporary position from 15 September 2025 to 30 June 2026

 

We are currently looking for a dance instructor to lead weekly sessions for students in Year 1 through Year 8 (ages 5 to 15). Sessions take place once a week, Monday to Friday, either from 15:45 to 16:45 or 16:45 to 17:45.

 

This role is part of our After-School Activities (ASA) programme, which is divided into three seasons throughout the school year. Students must register (or re-register) before the start of each season. Each season concludes with Showcase Week, where families are invited to attend and enjoy a performance of the choreography students have learned. In addition, students often perform during their school assemblies.

 

Main responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver Jazz and/or Hip-Hop dance classes
  • Teach a variety of dance styles in an engaging and age-appropriate manner
  • Prepare choreographed routines for school performances
  • Foster student motivation, creativity, and growth through dance
  • Evaluate student progress and adapt lessons accordingly
  • Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and parents

 

Desired profile:

  • A recognised qualification in Jazz and or Hip-Hop Dance Instruction
  • Experience teaching students of various ages
  • Ability to plan, deliver and evaluate classes which stimulate and motivate students
  • Experience in teaching a range of dance styles offering both a fun approach but also an ability to prepare choreographed routines for performances
  • Strong interpersonal skills and intercultural awareness
  • Adaptability, flexibility, dynamism and a sense of humour
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written); any other language is an asset
