Rebecca Rousseau, American

Primary Music Teacher

Rebecca grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and studied music education at the University of Cincinnati in Ohio. After graduation from university, she moved to Shanghai where she lived and taught music at International Schools for six years. Last year, she took a year off from teaching to study music and dance education in Salzburg before joining ISL. Rebecca started working at ISL in August 2019, “I had heard of ISL’s great reputation, and the beautiful natural surroundings were something I had been missing. ISL seemed like a well-organized, supportive, and harmonious place to work and I was very excited to accept the position.”

She especially likes the fact that ISL is so welcoming, well resourced, and supportive of the arts. “Putting together the Winter Festival with Mr. Odling was one of my favorite moments so far. It was a lot of work, but there is nothing like sitting back and watching the students showcase months of practice. When they can perform without any help from me, I know I’ve done my job!”

Rebecca loves the natural beauty in Switzerland, “It seems like everywhere I turn, there’s a picture-perfect view. I don’t think I could ever get tired of it.” In her free time, she enjoys reading, practicing various musical instruments and outdoor activities like hiking and biking.
