The International School of Lausanne (ISL) is a leading not-for-profit International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. Our school is committed to excellence in education. Teacher of French at 100% – Early Childhood

Permanent contract from 1 August 2023

Our Primary School community (320 students) is exceptionally diverse with students from 52 countries speaking 36 languages. Our 45 teaching staff are experienced, passionate, and self-motivated educators. We are seeking to employ an inspirational and passionate teacher who is committed to provide engaging learning experiences for our learners.  

The new teacher will be teaching R3 and R4 students in our Early Childhood Department. The teacher will promote an immersive learning environment and be highly skilled at differentiating instruction for our children. Our preferred applicant will have the ability to support staff in developing their ability to integrate French into daily life in the classroom. 

Qualifications and Qualities desired

  • Ability to teach French to students in Early Childhood (three to five-year old children)
  • A recognized teaching qualification (graduate or postgraduate level)
  • A recognized FLE teaching qualification (Français Langue Etrangère) is an advantage
  • Knowledge of and a commitment to the educational philosophies of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme is a strong asset
  • The ability to plan, deliver and evaluate lessons that stimulate and motivate students to learn
  • An understanding of and sensitivity to cultural variance; a work experience in an international environment is a strong asset
  • Adaptability, flexibility, dynamism and a sense of humour
  • The ability to meet high expectations of students, colleagues and a professional parent community
  • Excellent ICT skills and knowledge of their effective use to support pedagogy
  • A commitment to self-reflection and professional development
  • Proficiency in English both oral and written is essential
